ABC’s strike team will cite liquor licensees for failure to enforce mask rule.

Recently, a Bay Area restaurant was cited by ABC’s strike team because the business failed to enforce the state’s mandatory mask wearing requirement in their restaurant. In July, Governor Newsom formed strike teams through various state agencies such as the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC).

The purpose for these strike teams is to enforce mask wearing in order to slow the spread of COVID-19 particularly in restaurants and bars. Customers can call a dedicated hotline to report lax mask enforcement by the business owner.

Repeated violations can lead to fines or license restrictions. Obviously, the best approach for a restaurant owner to take is to enforce the mask rule in their restaurant and bar.
